Q: Define mass movement.

A: A mass movment is a transfer of rock and soil downslope due to gravity.

Q: What are the different types of mass movement?

A: Rockfalls, slides, slumps, flow, and creep are the different types of mass movement.

Q: Which mass movement has the greatest potential to cause the most damage? Why?

A: Flows has the most potential to cause the most damage. This is because the mixture in a mudflow may have the consistency of wet concrete.

  4. Who was affected by this movement? It affected David Barr and three other friends.

  5. How did the mass movement affect them? David Barr dislocated his shoulder and the three other climbers died from the avalanche.

  7. What are three things that you learned? I learned about flows, how bad avalanche's can hurt you, and about the risk they took that was very deadly.

  8. What are two things that you found interesting? I found the results of the avalanche interseting. Also, that his friend dug in the snow with his bare hands for 10 minutes trying to help him.

  9. What is one question that you still have? I want to know what triggered the avalanche.
