Worst Weather Events

Q: Which weather events kill the most Americans?

A: I think hurricanes cause the most American deaths.

Q: Which weather events kill the most people (in the world)?
A: I think tornadoes kill the most people in the world.
Q: Are your answers to those two questions different? Why or why not?
A: Yes, they are I say they are different because you mostly hear about tornadoes around the world killing lots of people.
Q; Read this article. Do you agree or disagree? Why or why not?
A: I agree with some of it. Eventhough, I don't believe flooding is the leading killer I do believe that you should avoid flooding waters.

A: Hurricane Ike was a category 2 near Galveston Texas. Hurricane Ike killed 195 people and cost $24 billion dollars in damage.




A: Hurricane Katrina killed 1800 people, and cost more than $81 billion dolars in damage. Hurricane Katrina is a caegory 5.







A: Hurricane Andrew caused over $25 billion dollars in damage. Hurricane Andrew was a category 4. When the hurricane hit Dade County it only killed 15 people.

A: cP-continental Polar
cT-continental Tropical
mP-maritime Polar
mT-maritime Tropical
Q: Which kind of air mass(es) do you think brings hurricanes?
A: Maritime Tropical air masses brings hurricanes.
Q: Which kind of air mass(es) do you think brings drought?
A: Continental Tropical and continental Polar cause droughts.
Q: Which kind of air mass(es) brings lake-effect snowstorms?
A: Continental Polar air masses brings lake effect snowstorms.
Q: Today we learned about the four main types of air masses. In reality, there any many more than four. What are two others? Explain them.
A: Arctic air mass is another air mass. It is similar to polar air mass but it is colder.
Highland air mass is another air mass. It is very dry and it modifies other air masses.
